Initial Training in Dangerous Goods Awareness (for Category 4 or 5 Personnel)

Objective

  • To ensure you have the basic knowledge on current regulations
  • To understand how to identify hidden hazards
  • To have the basic Handling skills of dangerous goods in loading and storage
  • To understand the emergency response procedures arising from accidents /incidents relating to dangerous goods
By the end of the course, you will able to

  • Know the definition of the Dangerous Goods
  • Understand the basics of the Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Recognize the nature of Dangerous Goods
  • Recognize the classes of Dangerous Goods by their labels
  • Identify the dangerous goods by their marks, labels and documents
  • Identify some dangerous goods which may also be incompatible with some types of non-dangerous cargo
  • Know what are the proper emergency reporting procedures

Who Should Attend

  • Staff of freight forwarders involved in processing cargo (other than dangerous goods) or staff of freight forwarders involved in the handling, storage and loading of cargo

  • Shipper's Declaration and other relevant documentation
  • Acceptance procedures
  • Storage and loading procedures (Segregation – Dangerous Goods and Non-dangerous goods)
  • Provisions for passengers and crew
  • Emergency procedures

Refund Policy

Should the learner need to cancel his/ her participation in the course, CX will refund:

  • 80% of the tuition fee when written advice received before 61 days of the course commencing.
  • 40% of the tuition fee when written advice received before 31 - 60 days of the course commencing.
  • 20% of the tuition fee when written advice received before 15 - 30 days of the course commencing.
  • No refund for any cancellation within 14 days of the course commencing.

Nomination

Class will be opened only for group(s) nomination, not less than 8 nominees per group/class, individual nominee is not accepted. Please send group nomination with details of the nominees i.e. full name, job title, contact number, fax number and address of the company to fax 2141-7016 or email cgotrn1@cathaypacific.com to Cargo Training Team.

Award of Certificate

A certificate will be issued confirming successful completion of the test.

CX reserves the right to cancel a course if there is insufficient enrolment or there are unforeseen difficulties arising from running the course.
